What grants and /or tax deductions are availalbe on a renewable energy system?

Depending on the technology, you (individuals) may be eligible for an installation grant from Wisconsin Focus on Energy and a buy-back rate or one time grant from your local utility company.  You may also receive a tax credit up to 30% of out of pocket system costs.  Many renewable energy systems are exempt from Wisconsin property taxes, making renewable energy an investment you can make on your property without increasing your tax liability.

How does Ecomanity stay current with “green” efforts and technology?

Our staff participates in educational classes to stay current with changes in technology.  We also subscribe to trade magazines, check “green” blogs,  and attends events such as “The Renewable Energy Summit” in Milwaukee, and the “Clean Energy and Sustainable Living Fair” at the Midwest Renewable Energy Association in Custer, WI.

What type of equipment does EcoManity use?

The most important tool we use is the knowledge we’ve acquired and the contacts we’ve made.  For site assessments, we use a tool called the “Solar Pathfinder”.  The Solar Pathfinder (view photo) is capable of showing the shading of a particular location where solar panels or solar hot water collectors may be installed.

How long does a site assessment take?

A residential site assessment generally requires your (homeowner) meet with us for about two hours.  During this time, we will discuss your goals and usage, as well as determine the best location for your system.  Generally speaking, your report can be processed within a couple of weeks after the original meeting date. A non-residential site assessment is more involved and will require more time.
